Second day of STONE 2024 - knowledge, inspiration and prestigious awards!
The second day of STONE 2024 was marked by knowledge, inspiration and industry discussions. It kicked off with the 2nd edition of the Stone Industry Congress, which brought together experts, practitioners and market leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities in stone conservation and restoration. Prestigious awards were also presented on the main stage, and participants were able to take advantage of a wide program of workshops and expert consultations.
Today we finished another intensive day, which began with the 2nd edition of the Stone Industry Congress. This year's theme was “Renovation on the example of Poznan's Old Market Square”. Congress participants focused their attention on contemporary challenges and innovative solutions in the field of stone conservation and restoration. It was an excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge of both historic buildings and modern construction projects.
The congress was divided into panels:
- Panel I: “What, who, why and for what?”
Participant:
Jacek Maleszka, Deputy Director of the Municipal Conservator of Monuments in Poznań.
- Panel II: “Implementation of the project in terms of construction and execution.”
Participants:

- Alfred Marian Sroka, Vice President of the Board of Directors of OSPWzK, Expert of SITPMB and NOT, Court Expert;
- and Włodzimierz Ratajczak, owner of WRIMAR Sp. z o.o.
- Panel III: “On conservation and restoration - technicalities”.
Moderated by: Włodzimierz Ratajczak and Lucyna Wojdyła, Conservator of Monuments, with participation of Ewa Kaczmarska-Nagorska from the Office of the City Conservator of Monuments.
The panel discussed in detail the restoration work on such buildings as the Bamberka, the Pillory and the Fountains.
Participants also had the opportunity to listen to a special session led by Robert Koprowicz of Hufgard Optolith Bauprodukte Polska on modern stone conservation and restoration products.
Awards
Prestigious awards were presented on the main stage:
- “Master of Sandblasting” competition - organized by ABRA.
- Tournament of assemblers - organized by the Polish Stonemasonry Association.

In the Expert Zone, organized by the National Association of Manufacturers of Stone Products, visitors could benefit from individual consultations.
At the same time, a Conservation Workshop was held with WRIMAR, with OPTOLITH as a partner.
The second day of the STONE fair confirmed that it is the most important event in the stone industry in Poland, being both an educational platform and an excellent opportunity for networking and making new business contacts.
