Łukasz Klimek (Global Stone Poznań) on the Interior Design Stage – light architecture in natural stone
During the BUDMA/STONE/INTERMASZ trade fair, an important item on the Interior Design Stage program will be a lecture by Łukasz Klimek from Global Stone Poznań, devoted to one of the most impressive but also challenging issues in contemporary interior design—the use of light in natural stone.
Lecture: "The Architecture of Light in Natural Stone"
February 5, 2026, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Interior-Design Stage, Pavilion 5
as part of the BUDMA | STONE | INTERMASZ fair.
Light and natural stone form a combination that can give interiors a unique character, but when improperly designed, it can lead to costly technical and material mistakes.
During the lecture, Łukasz Klimek will show how to design illuminated stone in a thoughtful way—so that the visual effect is not only spectacular but also aligned with durability, safety, and functionality of the space.
The presentation will focus on real design decisions that architects and interior designers must make already at the concept stage.
Topics to be discussed include:
- when quartzite is a better choice and when onyx is preferable,
- how to avoid costly material errors,
- why not every "translucent" stone is suitable for every area of the home.
Key spaces such as kitchens, feature walls, fireplaces, stairs, bathrooms, and spa zones will be analyzed using specific examples.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the relationship between light, the mass of stone, and temperature, as well as long-term thinking about the material's use and maintenance.
The lecture is aimed at architects and interior designers who want to design illuminated stone not as a one-off “wow” effect, but as a conscious element of high-quality architecture that meets both aesthetic and technical requirements.
Łukasz Klimek, Sales and Marketing Specialist at Global Stone, has been combining technical knowledge with sales and educational practice for years. On a daily basis, he supports architects and designers in selecting natural stone, optimizing material solutions, and implementing stone in various interior and façade projects.
